Decadent Butter and a Dusty Wake Up Call

How would you prefer to start your day? How about "Decadent Strawberry Butter"? You might want to spread it on a warm, toasted bagel. Before this breaking of the fast, a "cat person" might have awaken, at the crack of dawn, to a dusty fur ball against their face. Fortunately I have not been attacked by fur balls...I've stayed on top of the situation with the help of a good broom. Although Strawberry Butter might be a simple way to add elegance to the breakfast table, I am still hovering at 195 pounds and the goal for the end of the summer was 185 pounds.
The above was probably a cheesy way (hmmm, cheese and bagels) to introduce the other two cats that have been entrusted to my care, Dusty and Butter. The invention of butter goes back to the earliest days of dairying, perhaps in the Mesopotamian area between 9000 and 8000 BC. Butter the cat has some of the classical looks I, the former cat person, associate with "cats". Butter is a lush. Not that he drinks to excess. He will eat anything in sight. The other cats, Dusty and Pepper, know that chow and treat time is an exercise in speed eating. Once Butter has finished his food he immediately turns to the other bowls. He will sometimes turn his head, before he has finished his own food, and eat from another bowl. Butter, the name, and Lush, the description fit. According to USDA figures, butter consists mostly of saturated fat and is a significant source of dietary cholesterol. For these reasons, butter has been generally considered to be a contributor to health problems, especially heart disease. Webster, the dictionary, says "lush" is defined as "growing vigorously especially with luxuriant foliage; characterized by richness, abundance, or extravagance, as in ornamentation, often tending to excess". I wouldn't say Butter is fat. He's big, strong, and his fur tends to accentuate his size. He's a bit of a klutz, he'll walk over the bodies of the other cats, or land on the others when jumping from the top of the cat condo. Not in malice but, like his namesake, he can be dangerous to a Pepper's and Dusty's health!
Dusty is the quiet one. Dusty likes to find a sunny spot upstairs and chill for most of the afternoon. Pretty mellow, but If I try to sleep in, Dusty's alarm goes off at 7:15 AM. Dusty's in my face, battering my nose with both paws until I get up and serve breakfast.
